All steps for your own website
  1. Get your domain name
    Think of an identical domain name for your futured website. For example: the domain name of this website is www.joerivanveen.nl. Check on the internet whether your chosen domain name already exists. You can do that by typing the address in the address bar of your browser, or check it safely on a website such as www.mijndomein.nl.
  2. Find a host and sign up for an account
    A webhost is basically a company with many computers connected to the internet. When you sign up for an account, you can put your final website on their computers so everyone in the world can see it.
  3. Choose a program
    The next thing you'll have to do is decide whether you are going to make a website by yourself, or let someone else do it for you. If you decide to do it yourself, you have to choose a websitebuilder, like Dreamweaver, GoLive, iWeb, Frontpage, Word, or one of the many free website builders online.
  4. Design and structure
    If you're a starter, don't make it hard for yourself and make a design with as less round objects as possible. Keep structure and styling seperated and organize your file system easy expandable for later growing.
  5. Uploading and publishing
    Upload your website by using one of all the free applications you can find on the internet. Then make sure Google and other big search engines found you and if not so, put your website on them. Real advertising will cost you money, but word-to-mouth is usually the best there is and free.
  6. Maintaining
    Depending on the sort of website you have, you need to maintain your website. Make sure people don't get the wrong information, or download wrong pictures.
